College: The Freedom from Books?
Some high school kids carry around the notion that college life easily equates to freedom. Freedom from their parents, a more lenient educational system they can bend and fold to their hearts desire and of course the liberty to lighten their load. And by load this refers to the amount of textbooks and notebooks to haul around from class to class. Alas this is not the college life, for the burden is deeper and the college textbooks are a plenty and even possibly heavier.
Any college student can attest to having held a book list required for each semester. Textbooks provide extra information and reference that a professor and his class cannot always provide. Any would be doctor will most likely sport a sciences textbooks in their bags or under their arms. An art major would be toting various art books and art literature necessary in improving their area of study. There is no class, course or subject matter that will not deem it necessary for its student to hold, own and hopefully read a textbook every so often. Professors are also likely to do the same as books will provide facts that are sound and perfected through the times and will as well update them on new revisions or added information that was unavailable to them during their time. Regardless of the class or subject matter, textbooks are inevitable and will be a part of the educational system and even widely used by the professionals who are constantly improving their understanding of a subject matter.
